Sally B

£40.00

Sally B is the name given to this Boeing B-17, an American bomber from the WWII era. She is the last remaining airworthy example in Europe and is based in the UK at Duxford. She was built in Burbank, California in 1945, a tad too late for war service so was repurposed as a training aircraft in Ohio. After a few years she went to France for survey and mapping work with Institut Geographic National before finally arriving at Duxford in 1975. She now flies as a tribute to the 79,000 US airmen who died fighting in the skies over Europe during the second world war. She also starred in the film “Memphis Belle” in 1989.

Here she sits under a moody sky at Duxford receiving some TLC between air show appearances. A magnificent sight to behold on the ground but especially in the sky!

A stunning A4 sized print (30x21cm), printed to order using a UK based printing lab.
