Ilkley Aurora
2024 saw a few nights of intense aurora activity. I had never even managed to see this natural light show until this year! This shot shows the famous northern lights above Ilkley’s Cow & Calf rocks on Ilkley Moor, a famous Yorkshire sight in its own right!
The Aurora Borealis is always much more vivid in photographs because cameras take in more light than our eyes do, but this show was so good you could clearly see the colours by eye. A truly wonderous spectacle! I shot this with a 10 second exposure with the widest aperture I could manage - safe to say I am thrilled with the outcome!
